Sunday morning we attended church in KwaMashu Branch where we have a handful of PEF students from 2009 who are finishing up their schooling this year plus new students for 2010. It was great to visit with them and find things are going well in their lives, plus to know how thankful they are for the opportunities PEF has given them. President Mann called Sunday afternoon to check out our watermelon story, but also to share with us the news that the Durban Mission boundaries were going to be expanded the middle of February, adding area around Bloemfontein, South Africa and the country of Lesotho. Lesotho is bounded on all sides by South Africa and we hope maybe to have to opportunity to visit there -a new stamp in our passports.
Just another week in paradise.
The result of our encounter with a runaway watermelon. As we were returning from a visit to one of the townships, we saw what looked like a green beach ball coming at us off of a large steep hill next to the road. We were doing about 40 mph and so was the melon! 
Pinetown chapel - the mission is blessed with many very nice chapels. This is one of the older meeting houses in the Durban area. We use this building to meet with many of our students since we were given access and use of a room which was previously the employment center.
This tree is next to the Pinetown chapel. Again, we are fascinated with the colors of South Africa. We have one of these trees next to our boarding, but it doesn't have as much of the colorful new growth.

The watermelon story made me chuckle. On Christmas day Brent just tapped some snow/ice in front of Bill and Steph's and our bumper cracked right open. $700. There's a reason, the Nissan people say, for the break away, easily crushed bumpers. Something about protecting the rest of the car/passengers?? Sounds like you've got some new experiences ahead of you. That's great!
